HELP WANTED

Any advice on how to handle growing pains?

Flor wakes up quite often, crying because of her feet hurting. They come and go so quickly and sporatically... I haven't figured them out. Massage helps. Ice helps. Ibuprofen helps. Sometimes...

I'm open to suggestions.

I have no clue either, Fern complains about her legs alot. And lately it has even been her knees. Let me know what you find out...

Jacob is 7 and we have been dealing with his pains since he was little. He still gets up in the middle of the night with his legs and feet hurting really bad. We just give him Motrin and massage his legs and feet until he is comfortable enough to fall back asleep. We have told him over the years to not sleep with his legs curled up because I think that makes it worse. He doesn't seem to have them as often since he stopped sleeping like that but it could also just be him getting older too. I wish I could offer more:(

You and I don't know each other and I actually don't know how I stumbled on your blog, but I've been reading it for over a year now. Flor is an absolute cutie and I'm glad that she is finally home with you.
My girls have had issues like this before. Try taking notes on when it happens--busy day, lots of exercise, more than normal play, too sleepy, etc. I know for my kids, it often happens when something like the above is mentioned. I have also noticed that my one daughter seems to say this more often. I finally started asking her what would be a good way to help her legs (sometimes it's an arm which is what led me to ask her) and she would say that it would be better if I could give her a kiss or something like that. I do think that she does, at times, have real pains because she will often ask for some medicine but on the other occasions, I think she just needs a little bit of Mommy's "magic" love to make "it" go away.

Hi, we don't know each other but I came across you when you had your livejournal. Well, I use to have my legs or knees hurt when I was little and now my 6 yr old has them off and on, what I did and what I do now is put a heating pad on her leg and it goes away. My mom did the same thing to me or she would rub Icee Hot on my knees/legs. They would bother me when I was little and now bother my daughter usually when it rains or the weather gets real cold, or going from a cold setting to a hot setting back into a cold setting...
